"Men Ignore Carpal Tunnel Symptoms"
In comparing men to women with carpal tunnel
syndrome, more men ignored the symptoms and signs of
carpal tunnel.
Since the software industry has many workers,
programmers, and executives on keyboards
- please take note of this trend. In a study of 740 patients conducted in 1997,
men complained less of discomfort and had
better hand function than women, but assessment
of nerve function showed that the men actually
had more severe impairment, the authors note.
We strongly advise those that are daily on
the keyboard, to use appropriate keyboards,
proper position, correct elevation &
angle of keyboards, and so forth. Most importantly,
don't ignore the symptoms (numbness and tingling
in the hand and wrist). See your physician
and correct the situation!
Men - Be wise and take corrective action!
